        Licciana Nardi

This Fief, which saw continuous fighting between the towns of the regions of Liguria, Lombardy and Emilia Romagna, underwent various modifications until it came under the protection of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany in 18th century.

Due to the numerous hereditary divisions among the Malaspina Family, other castles were erected in the vicinity of Licciana Nardi; of which only two have stood up to the tumultuousness of the various centuries: the Bastia Castle (13th -14th century) and the Monti Castle (14th century).

Recently a very special Award was celebrated in Licciana Nardi: the 'Lunigiana Storica (Historical Lunigiana)' Award dedicated to dissertations, newspaper articles and news reports, intended to express appreciation for the inland areas around Luni.

The Parish Church with a 16th-century marble altarpiece is well worth a visit.
